UK Credit Cards

How do I apply for a credit card?
You can apply for a credit card by post, at certain banks or online

How long will I have to wait for a response?
A response on whether or not you are acceptable will usually only take a few days

How is a decision made?
Credit card companies use credit reference agencies to assess your application. The agencies analysis of your financial position will include your electoral roll details, any county court judgements (CCJs) against you and previous searches made about you

What can I do if my application is refused?
If your application is refused and you wish to enquire about your credit file, you may apply to the credit reference agencies directly for a copy of your file. You can obtain their details from the lender. This service is not free, however, and a small fee will be charged.
